High times at Lowlands

As soon as we put our tent up on the festival ground we couldn’t help but notice how diverse the Lowlands crowd is. It’s like a city on its own, inhabited by over 60,000 people for one weekend a year. And all these people are in this city for two reasons only: music and fun. Add to that some great weather and an impressive line-up, and the recipe for an awesome festival is complete.


The line-up of the festival is just as diverse as the people. There is something for everyone; Rockbands ripping the stage, bass heavy hip hop acts and back-to-back DJs to take you through the night. Besides music, there’s enough other stuff to do too: Stand up comedy, games, theatre, and even a cinema.


Within the city of Lowlands we had our own neighbourhood: The Converse Compound. A great place to hang around, have a drink and let your creativity shine. Whether you wanted to customize your own shoes or get an already customized pair, this was the place to be. A game of All Star Pong, watch a movie or create some digital graffiti it was all there. And of course the Paper Heads where there rocking the festival too.




At night the compound went silent, but not at all quiet. It was taken over by a crazy crowd of headphone wearing people. This phenomenon is also known as Silent Disco. Amazing fun, which was confirmed by the long queues at the entrance.


We had an amazing time at Lowlands, and we hope you did too. We’re off to bed now, but the good thing is, we still have one more festival weekend to look forward to. Next weekend we will be rocking in Paris at Rock en Seine: same recipe, different location.
