Vermillion Sands is not just the title of a good book, it’s also the name of a really, really good Italian garage folk band.

Gary Berchè is 23 years old, was born and raised in France, and is currently studying Product Design. He creates amazing objects and interiors, inspired by French artists, electronic music and Milan’s design scene. Gary has always been fascinated by certain objects, and during his Erasmus year in Milan he fell in love with the city and its design scene. He decided to stay and is now attending a masters program in Product Design at Brera’s Fine Arts Academy.

It’s always good to be in Paris, and this weekend it was even better. This weekend we were there for Rock en Seine: A 3 day festival where 30,000 people gather on the banks of the river Seine to have a blast.

Alessandro Teoldi was born in Milan in 1987. After getting his high school diploma, he attended an undergraduate course in photography and visual arts. After spending some months in Vancouver, he graduated last year with the project Estate 1984.

As soon as we put our tent up on the festival ground we couldn’t help but notice how diverse the Lowlands crowd is. It’s like a city on its own, inhabited by over 60,000 people for one weekend a year. And all these people are in this city for two reasons only: music and fun. Add to that some great weather and an impressive line-up, and the recipe for an awesome festival is complete.

Irwin is 17. Despite his young age, the teenager has already made several videos, including some commercial ones. He also films live concerts in festivals and directs the videoclips of the song Shyness (Thieves Like Us), Françoise (La Femme), The Summer Wasting (Venus in Furs) etc. The young video maker also seems to be interested in the art of photography.

Nova Hermann is 20 and she lives in Berlin. She is a photographer and an illustrator and we know, these people seem to grow on trees in these parts. But this girl is really good.

Florie Millet, former plastic art student, is now 23 and works in the redaction of a french girl webzine. In the heading “Art & Design” of madmoiZelle.com, she explains how to create original jewels. Each of her articles is so clear that creating jewels with her help seems very easy. Girls who read madmoiZelle are really fond of her articles, since they all are funny, colorful and full of pictures.

We are very well aware that in the age of streetstyle blogs and social networks everyone claims to be the very best, the most creative and the most accomplished. But without lots of publicity effort and Facebook whoring, Elena Meyer-Ginsberg has made the cut and is on her way to be the next big name in fashion.

You might not have noticed, but postmodernism is totally over. So Rick Reuther went forth to learn what the next big thing will be. At least in literature. Well, and in photography. So basically this is the guy who defines what we will think in years to come.
